Dear Kendra: Hypoplastic left heart syndrome and roller coasters?

Kendra James, RN

Thanks to Rita- we have some other outstanding question! So here is our Dear Kendra for the weekend.

Merely odd if roller coasterâs are extinct for all children with inborn heart defects? My son has Hypoplastic Goed away Bosom Syndrome (HLHS) and is acquiring to the historic period where he is enquiring to sit the more adult, chilling rides. Let me cognise if anyone extinct there has HLHS or a tike with HLHS and share your experience.

Thanks

Rita- Thanks for the question once again. Rolling wave coasters… ahhh! I in person chance them very chilling and the idea of my kids acquiring on them is evened out scarey, but for a parent that has a heart defect… I can not even conceive of.

Yes, children with Hypoplastic Goed away Bosom Syndrome (HLHS) have plenty of of continuing numbers and need to be on plenty of medicinal drugs and plenty of postdate up visits postdating operating theatre. I looked for and looked for… I found an assorted base of advice. There are lots of children that are populating to dwell, intending they sit the rides and do what delights them. In person, I believe there is some the true to this fashion of living.

I also found some duds telling that kids with HLHS should not sit roller coasters and thrill quest rides. I also found some indicants of medicos and heart surgeons saying that children with HLHS should not occupy such risks.

There is no potent reply and no unequivocal right or incorrect. My advice is to talk with your heart specialist and postdate up with all concerns and worries, as good as worries from your son, and come up to a conclusion that both you and your son can dwell with. How is he making? Has he had got succeeder? Thanks over again for your concerns and your questions, hope you are having an outstanding summertime!

Thanks,

Kendra
